Managing Stress Through Diet
Provides an understanding of how diet and nutrition can support a reduction in stress levels
According to Health and Safety Executive 12.5 million working days were lost due to work-related stress, depression or anxiety 2016/17. Chronic stress can wreak havoc on digestion, immunity, weight, energy, sleep, mood, and blood pressure and even on the way we eat. Whilst we may not always have the ability to remove the source of stress, simple dietary and lifestyle changes may help us to manage stress in a more efficient way.
This workshop explores the psychological and physiological causes of stress as well as the symptoms that come with the stress response and chronic stress, focussing on how stress can affect the way we eat and our food choices. Crucially the workshop also explores how our food choices can help to reduce levels of stress, and shares practical tips and recipe ideas to implement into your daily routine, including a demo of how to make a healthy stress-busting smoothie.
