Addictive Behaviours

Provides an understanding of how daily habits can slip into dangerous addictions, and share strategies to regain control and create positive change.

Many aspects of our daily lives function automatically. We all have patterns of behaviour that make life smoother and more energy-efficient. We don’t have to think about the route to work, how to clean our teeth, or use our smart phones. We all also get stuck in patterns of thought, feelings or behaviour that don’t serve us. Addiction is when we can’t stop even if we want to and even if it’s damaging us.

This workshop looks at habits, how they work, what happens in the brain and everyday ways we all get stuck and how we can exercise greater choice. It also explores more dangerous addictions that need help and the vicious cycles that make that hard. The workshop covers the role of emotions, EQ, self-care and self-awareness and the things we can do to increase our capacity to learn, adapt and move forward.

Participants will leave the workshop with a greater awareness of how to recognise when behaviours are becoming addictive, and how to take action to help themselves.
