Survive December Madness and Winter Sadness

The winter months can feel relentless - with holiday pressures, shorter days, and persistent low moods. This workshop helps participants navigate the emotional challenges of winter, providing tools to understand Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD), build resilience, and maintain well-being through the darker days.

Overview

This session equips teams with the knowledge to recognise and respond to winter-related emotional challenges.

We’ll explore the science behind Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD), including common signs and symptoms, and practical, evidence-based strategies to mitigate its impact.

Participants will also learn mindfulness- and stress-management tools - from self-compassion to gratitude practices - that support emotional well-being through the festive frenzy and seasonal shift.

The workshop finishes with a suite of take-home resources, ensuring support extends well beyond the session.

  • Understand SAD - what it is and how to spot its emotional and physical signs.

  • Learn trusted, evidence-based strategies recommended by NHS and NICE to support mood and mental health during winter.

  • Practice mindfulness and stress-management tools, including:
