Movement for Mental Health

We all know that we should be moving more, sitting less and generally leading a more active lifestyle. But life gets in the way, and often taking time to exercise falls to the bottom of our to do list.

Making a sustainable commitment to daily movement has big health benefits not only for our physical health but crucially for our mental health too.

Overview

Suitable for all staff

This workshop, created for Mental Health Awareness Week 2024, is designed to support participants to make the commitment to healthy movement, empowering people with a practical toolkit to use movement throughout the day to support mental health.

Participants will learn about latest research findings on the benefits of movement, the health consequences of sedentary life and the links between inactivity and mood.

We get clear on what healthy movement is and we dive into the psychology of making healthy habits - the key to sustainable change.

Participants will also get clear on their personal motivators for infusing more movement into your day.

We share a quick, simple and effective morning routine to start your day with purpose and energy. We also include some evening movement sequences to wind down, de-stress and better promote sleep.

No matter where you are at with your levels of physical activity, be that very active, not active at all, or anywhere in between, this workshop is designed to provide inspiration and strategies for everyone to move more and in doing so experience improved physical and mental health.
