Building team confidence through organisational change
Barnett Waddingham client case study
The Challenge
Barnett Waddingham is a leading independent UK professional services consultancy with over 1,790 employees in nine offices. We partnered with them to design and deliver a bespoke keynote and interactive workshop for their Pension Administration team away day.
The first of its kind, the leadership team were keen to offer a meaningful and impactful experience to the 360 team members who were coming together for the 2-day event.
The objectives for the training were to:
Support enhanced adaptability to change and uncertainty
Cultivate a mindset of optimism and hope - leaning into change
Support team members to feel valued
Develop improved accountability and sense of responsibility
Be fun and enjoyable!
Rather than delivering an off-the-shelf workshop, we designed the programme around Barnett Waddingham's organisational context, including their recently refreshed strategy and purpose.
These themes became woven throughout the keynote, workshop and participant materials, helping create alignment between the event and the organisation's wider ambitions.
Louise (Work Well Being Founder) and Chris (Director of Learning) worked closely with representatives from the Pension Administration and People & Culture teams through a series of discovery and planning sessions, ensuring the content reflected both organisational priorities and the experience of participants.
Our Approach
Taking the time to develop this deep understanding of the organisational needs and culture enabled us to provide a detailed proposal which included:
Sample presentation content
Recommendations for how to structure the training for impact
Internal communications copy
Marketing materials for internal communications
Recommendations to maximise engagement throughout the event
Our Solution
Across the two-day event, we delivered a bespoke 60-minute keynote followed by a 90-minute interactive workshop for approximately 200 participants each day.
Keynote - Adapting to Change:
Engaged participants
Sparked conversation
Introduced key concepts for the afternoon workshop
Workshop - Practice of Adapting to Change:
Created a safe space for learning
Facilitated table discussion
Generated actions and key takeaways
Participant Workbook
Enabled engagement and participation
Conversation starter and insight tracker
A tangible and practical reminder of the day
Following the event, participants completed an evaluation survey to measure satisfaction, confidence and intended behaviour change:
How satisfied were you with the training day?

The Impact
“We reached out to Work Well Being to help us run two “Away Days” for approximately 360 staff. Louise and her team listened to our brief, immediately understood what we were aiming to achieve, and came up with a strong proposal. They were a joy to work with and brought a fresh perspective to coping with change”
- Sue Foley, Partner at Barnett Waddingham
“It wasn't tick-boxy or too corporate, it was reflective and inspiring rather than instructive or dictatorial”
“I learned to take the first step, don't be afraid to try something new and embrace failure as a way to grow and develop”
“Really engaging, was expecting to be 'talked at' but I felt included and listened to”
“I learnt not to be afraid of change and take it as something new and not to be worried about”
“I really like how the presenter incorporated different reflective aspects of change and how it can shape a different attitude of thinking. It was really interactive, and I liked working through the workbook”
