Supporting Working Carers
Many employees are balancing their careers with caring responsibilities, often without recognising themselves as carers. These responsibilities can bring significant emotional, practical and financial pressures, affecting wellbeing, confidence and the ability to remain in work.
For those providing care, navigating these competing demands can be challenging and isolating. Greater awareness, practical strategies and workplace support can make a meaningful difference, helping carers manage their own wellbeing while enabling organisations to build a more inclusive and supportive culture.
Overview
Led by a carer, author and workplace trainer, this workshop combines lived experience with practical workplace insights to explore the realities of balancing work with caring responsibilities.
Participants will gain a clearer understanding of who working carers are, the challenges they face and the impact caring can have on their personal and professional lives. The session will also recognise the resilience, organisation and problem-solving skills that carers develop.
For employees with caring responsibilities, the workshop provides an opportunity to feel recognised, reflect on their own needs and consider ways to manage competing demands and protect their wellbeing.
We will also explore how colleagues, managers and organisations can better recognise and support working carers, helping to create a workplace culture where people feel understood, valued and able to access appropriate support.
